Frequently asked questions
- How often should I change the litter?
- How long can it take to litter train a kitten?
- Why right placement of the litter box is necessary?
- Why provide more than one litter box?
- Does the size of the litter box matter?
It is best to clean out the waste from the litter box daily and change the litter entirely every month. If you have multiple cats, change the litter every 2-3 weeks.
Every kitten is different. Some might be able to start using the litter box right away, some may take ample time to get used to this setting. Most cat owners have successfully potty-trained their kittens within four weeks.
Your cat needs to feel comfortable while using the litter box. Hence, the placement of the litter box plays a key role in litter training cats. If you place it far away from human interaction, your cat may not feel comfortable doing their business. Choose a spot that is comfortable for your cat. You can also change the position of the litter box to find a spot that best suits your cat.
Providing more than one litter box is advised simply to make your cat feel more comfortable. If they don’t feel like going to a certain spot, they can just use a different spot instead of holding it in or dirtying the house.
A litter box should be huge enough for your cat to fit into it with some room for movement.
